The demo driver code is written in Java. The purpose of the demos is to show Java front end software interacting with the various molecular simulation backend software, which may not be written in Java, thru the API. Currently, the demos can only be run from a Mac OS or Linux machine. Attempting to run the demo on a non-supported operating system will result in a launch error and a dialog box will indicate that your operating system is not supported. The system will need to have Java version 1.5 or later loaded as well.

Demo 1

The 3D simulation places monatomic molecules of different species inside a box with a periodic boundary. Molecules have a Lennard-Jones potential. Molecules of the same color are of like species.

Demo 2

The 3D simulation puts monatomic molecules of two different species inside a box with a periodic boundary. Molecules have a Lennard-Jones potential. The number of molecules per species can be changed dynamically via the slider bars on the interface in all simulations except for the simulation employing Lammps as the backend. Lammps does not allow addition of molecules once a simulation has been started. The simulation can be paused/restarted and reinitialized via the control buttons below the simulation graphic.

Demo 3

The simulation can be paused/restarted and reinitialized via the control buttons below the simulation graphic. The temperature of the system is shown to the left of the simulation graphic. The Energy tab contains a plot of the Potential, Kinetic and Total energy of the system. The RDF tab displays a plot of the radial distribution function.

Demo 5

The 3D simulation puts molecules of two different species inside a box with a periodic boundary. Each species contains molecules containing more than one atom. Atoms within a molecule are bonded with a Fene bond. An atom is bonded only to the atom(s) it is next to in its original configuration. Molecules have a Lennard-Jones potential. The simulation can be paused/restarted and reinitialized via the control buttons below the simulation graphic. The temperature of the system is shown to the left of the simulation graphic. The Energy tab contains a plot of the Potential, Kinetic and Total energy of the system. The RDF tab displays a plot of the radial distribution function.
